Getting to the Project
It's best to start looking for your flight to Lisbon sooner rather than later. If you are flying from the U.S., remember that most flights that leave from the U.S. are overnight. This means you should look for flights that depart on the 5th, for example, in order to arrive on the morning of the 6th. We pick up students in the morning on the day of the project's start and transport you to Redondo.
Once you have arrived in Lisbon, you'll need to pass through customs and collect your bags. This can take anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 hours. Once you've collected your bags, you'll pass into the arrivals lounge. The arrivals lounge is relatively small, but there are places to get food, a Portuguese cell phone, and cash out of the ATM. You'll need to wait for us at the Meeting Point -- it's a row of chairs situated behind the red Ola ice cream stand. There's a sign above it that says "Meeting Point" in English and Portuguese. Wait there for us! You'll probably be sitting with other people from the project, so say hello to your neighbors. If for some reason your flight you arrive very late into Lisbon, it's very easy to catch the bus to Redondo.
On the Project
Throughout the project, our team transports you to and from site daily and to other sites of interest in the region on field trips. Redondo is easily navigable on foot, so you are able to access stores, cafes, the cultural center, and medical care anytime you'd like to.
Departing from the Project
We recommend scheduling departing flights for after 9:30 am on the project's final day so that you can take advantage of the transportation to the airport (included in tuition). If your flight leaves very early in the morning on the last day of the project, you will need to take the bus to Lisbon from Redondo the night prior; you will be responsible for finding your own lodging and transportation to the airport in Lisbon.
Staying after the project
Some of you may wish to stay in Lisbon for a few days after the project. We highly recommend it! There's lots to do and see in the city, and we're happy to give you recommendations.
